How About An Any Day Thread

Post by Brians Cravat »

Good morning all. Just thought that it was time for a new thread.

Busy week ahead for me. Today, it's the usual Art Group. I shall be trying to complete the blue iris in pastels that I started last week. Tomorrow is my Active Retirement Group. Of course we'll be picking up our granddaughters this afternoon and Wednesday afternoon.

Friday however, I am one of the responsible adults (Ha!) on school trip to Llandudno. It seemed like a good idea at the time. As Vice-Chair of the Governing Body, I felt that it would be useful to see what happened when 40 odd pupils are taken on a day-trip. This was of course, before I realised that; I would not be allowed to spend the entire time in Llandudno in a pub, was not permitted the use of an electric cattle prod to keep the little dears heading in the right direction nor, would the school provide me with body armour. It's a disgrace.

Just hope that I 'll be in a fit state on Saturday to attend a choral concert at our local parish church.

Enjoy your days everyone?

Now, an Any Day Thread sounds good to me! A new one can be started under varying conditions, which can be totally random, possibly based on the phase of the moon :-)

I have rallies the next two week-ends,then ... bliss! ... I have a WHOLE week-end off! As for this week, I guess I'd better get back to figuring out why a French keyboard keeps on forgetting it's French and reverting to "qwerty" ... well, it keeps me off the streets.

These days pretty much all of the "consumer" anti-virus offerings seem to be little better than actual viruses - whether freebie or paid. The "Enterprise" versions tend to be rather better, but then enterprises will pay a lot more. However much it pains me to say this, I think the offering from Microsoft themselves (Microsoft Security Essentials) is probably about the best available. It seems to be functional, not performance-clobbering bloatware. Apart from that, Avast was, until quite recently, probably best of the rest, but I have no recent experience of it.

But but but GLO, with the contract you have, they give Macafee with the broadband contract. I don't see how yours could be different from mine with the same provider and domain name. I don't think the one Macafee sells is any better than the in house version. I sometimes get a (Free) House call from Trend Micro to see if there's anything missed. If you wanted to pay for additional cover, might I suggest you'd do well to use a different company altogether, though I'm not an IT specialist like An Tarbh Dubh. It doesn't look as though Macafee have taken any money either.

My cam belt is brand new now as is the auxiliary belt and I am given to understand they are good for 80 thousand miles. I'm very tired from my busy morning though.

Hello from a wet and soggy Bognor..... I blame it on all those folk wh complained about the sun....

A very brief Hello from me as I can't seem to focus on any computer screen since the op..... Can see Long distance and can sometimes read reasonably well.... But it's all a bit hit and miss as none of my glassess work either.... And focussing hurts.... So just saying Hi and will be back soon.....

Will sort out some summer clothes once the sun returns..... Talking of returning..... Is the White bear playing with Ice Flows at the moment.....Lovely to hear Twells chirpy and having a good time.... We are supposed to be going to Goodwood Festival of Speed on Saturday.... Not ideal timing and TBH I might suggest that OH takes somebody more useful with him.... I think I will be a waste of space...

Be Good and play nicely...

Good morning everyone.

Never been to Bognor. Was it King George V who is alleged to have said "B*gg*r Bognor." on his death bed. Don't know if that's an apocryphal story or not. Tend to think that it's one of those urban myths that seem to have developed down the years. Personally, I'm not a royalist so, I can neither confirm nor deny the truth of this.

Talking of coastal parts, the weather for my school trip to Llandudno doesn't look good. Still, having experience of three kids under 12, in a caravan in a very wet North Wales must count for something.

Just our granddaughters to collect from school today. OH 'house-sitting' at our daughter's home awaiting a delivery. That is our day.

Enjoy your days.

Good morning all from a dull West. Nothing special on today, apart from laying in a fresh supply of cat biscuits (plenty of the moist food, they get both).

I've had a fairly lazy day, with some genealogy, some route planning and an itinerary for next week's jaunt into Shropshire. A bit of Parish magazine work, and lots of deletions.

It's been interesting following up the family records. I worked out where they lived and decided to explore next week. It was because I was going to visit a friend who is very busy so that's been postponed and I'm going to do some exploring a part of the county that I don't know well. I'll take some photographs and see how it goes. I do love driving, and a holiday following a trail is much more interesting than just sitting about, soaking up the sun. Not that there's much of that.

Hope all is well.

Good morning all. Just been listening to the first ever episode of 'The Navy Lark', thanks to a Radio 4 Extra download. Recall the programme as a Sunday lunchtime favourite from the 1960s. Didn't realise that Dennis Price was the original 'Number 1'. Mind you, I suppose that his film career was into a ever-descending spiral at this point and, he took whatever was offered in terms of work.

Interested to see that Johnny Sexton and Owen Farrell have been named in the starting line-up for the British Lions in Saturday's second test against the All Blacks. The inclusion of both should add a bit of bite to the Lions midfield.

I'm waiting in for a piece of furniture to be delivered whilst OH is out sorting the fitting of our new lounge curtains. Such is life.

Have a good day everyone.

Oh, is it another "Any Day"?
Been contacted by a friend.. We are members of the same car club (Not your sort of Rallying - my car retired from rallying in Coronation Year... I first encountered him when he phoned me in a panic (twenty yrs ago) that He'd just bought a car like mine (from the club registry) and thinks he'd made a rerrible mistake and could I fix it???
He left London When He Inherited his Inheritence, and then an Inheritence in Wales. He e-mailed me last week asking if I'd like to meet Mon, next week.. I made arrangements to change my arrangements. He has now e-mailed to tell me he was going to his Sister that day, so could I change it to Sunday.... I know remember how He expected me to change my arrangements on a whim.. You may have guessed my stroppy mood...

Oh well, really annoying when they do that. I remember saying to friends that this wasn't acceptable. That my arrangements were made first, and only a Royal command would displace the fixture in future. One doesn't arrange things now, and the other always accepts or refuses meetings depending on existing arrangements. It's a pity to disappoint you. Maybe you can arrange for another meeting. Were you going to go to Wales to meet him? It looks to me as though he likes to make people jump about to get the upper hand, unless his sister is despotic.

I'm sure the new Lounge curtains will be lovely. I had forgotten if I ever knew that Dennis Price was in "The Navy Lark". I thought he was wonderful, more so in the later stages as he matured. Very good in Kind Hearts and Coronets, which we used to repeat watch quite regularly on account of Alec Guinness, but Price was excellent too. Nowadays, Roger Allam has taken over the fluttering hearts.

Not aiming for Wales - I have Financial matters to sort out during Illness - (I still think PPI, Taxman, Motor Insurers, and House repairs ins., and something needing a solicitor) - I want a clean sheet afore I start Driving/visiting/living. Just as soon as I finish arm wrestling the Mortgagers..

No A is a teacher. I get the himpression that his Father (Head Teacher in a Niff-noff school in the West) ruled A's life in the same way - Don't work when one is accustomed to a self-employed life and have to be at a day/place at the right time - none of this "expecting everybody to be available on any non-sun/school hol days".

EVERYBODY DOWN..

2/4d of course. I usually pay £4.50 (or less if it is a pensioner's portion). They do half of Cod and one scoop of chips. I sometimes like hake though Plaice is usually much bigger than Cod. You have to shout out if you want Chicken or Plaice so they can put it straight in and by the time you get to the front of the queue it should be nearly ready.

Decided against (They have to close early round here). The Nearest is in the Station Shopping area. Not a place to dwell when Drunks arriving from London. Cost £2 just for chips last time..
