Re: Whoosh! December already!

I hope you are feeling better now, and that you get a visit from your sister soon. The sanity Inspector referred to a scandi au pair who delivered a message that the sanity inspector was due to call and it was actually the sanitary inspector. Which film was the Marx Bros exchange over the sanity cla...

Re: Whoosh! December already!

Happy Christmas I use the Christmas card list to update my diary/address book. One section, I think it was the S-es has nearly all crossings out due to deaths. I promised myself I'd start a fresh sheet so that everyone on it is still alive. One neighbour who was a great source of amusement and frien...

Re: Whoosh! December already!

I've been very busy with the Magazine and sent off the internet copy link this morning. The gardener came later and cleared away the brambles. I decided to try and see if I could turn round in my drive and after several changes in direction managed to end facing the exit without hitting the brambles...

Re: Whoosh! December already!

The new machine is due to arrive today. I have moved the bookcase from the hall, which would have prevented the free transit of trolley, and will have to pass on the Robert Heinlein collection to another fan. Most of the Leslie Thomases will go except for Dangerous Davies, whose canine sidekick, liv...

Re: Whoosh! December already!

I've been half expecting to have to replace it, so it won't hurt. The nightmare of launderettes with machine faults, no parking, swooping traffic wardens fended off with new tyre receipt, and not having a working machine in the house will be worth every penny. I once bought a new dishwasher from a s...

Re: Whoosh! December already!

The buses in Minehead town service take contactless payments. If you look on the bus website, you might be able to find out if your buses do too. Magpies are quite handsome birds and I try to forget their nasty habits when I see them. Your escort may think the rest of his pack can bring you down if ...

Whoosh! December already!

It whizzes by faster and faster 1/75 is smaller than 1/74. Today is a quiet day with nothing much happening. The moon was bright at 5 am when my dog decided to go out. People have posted that the full moon appears large this month, but it was normal size. I suspect it has more to do with the time an...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

The move has happened without fuss though he had to take off part of the lintel to do it He replaced it afterwards, with the minimum of fuss and now I have to wait for the washing machine man to come on Wednesday. I contacted a national co of repairers run by Domestic and General Insurance and they ...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

It's also the main Co-op. That's a good point. I can't help feeling that Post office is getting the short straw Both entrances and exits are wide enough to rope off entrance and exit lanes to street AND car park. I parked in the disabled space by the door and while I'm better than I was, if I was mo...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

I once saw a van which I assumed belonged to someone in a franchise called Handy Home Husband. Electricity and drainage already present. Just a clever builder to move a unit from under the worktop, so that machine can be extracted and moved into position. If it doesn't work and can't be repaired it ...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

I was keeping stuff in the futility room and had to clear it out so they could lay the vinyl flooring. Now the room is ready to shift the machine into, and I need a kitchen fitter to move one of the units so the machine can be unplumbed from the kitchen and plumbed into the new room. I had the discu...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

I remember in hospital some equipment the Occupational Therapist thought I needed was ordered and sent to my home. It was pretty quick, so it could have been delivered while you were in hospital. Just tell them you've received it now so they can cancel the repeat order. Making a list /spreadsheet sh...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

Another stage in my utility room metamorphosis today. The lino/vinyl floor so I have to shift the dogfood, vacuum cleaner etc out to leave the floor clear for operations. Now I can get a hero to move my washing machine and it's straight on 'til morning. Your communication problems between Hospital a...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

Have another go at PALS, and complain to Healthwatch for Essex that services aren't joined up. They may do a research project on it and address the Clinical Commissioning Group with a swingeing report. Patient Outcomes are the way to go. Somerset is pretty good, I can say. I had a letter from Lloyds...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

i live near Exmoor, and it's mostly a Dark Skies area. They don't much go for Christmas lights here, so se get a terrific view of the Milky Way, and the Moon. Sometimes you can see pale colours in the moonlight when it's full. There's someone on the hill near the Church who goes over the top with a ...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

I have just returned from posting a letter to my penfriend in Australia. I also washed two large bags of laundry in a bank of machines in a petrol station. I took Cassie for a walk in the woods then collecte the contents of the machines and drove home. Now having coffee and oatcake (with ground almo...

Re: November... Winter Draws on.

We had a storm or two over the weekend, Aiden then a spent hurricane. No fallen trees that I know of, just rain and the wormery lid stayed put. I'd emptied it and started again. I hate fireworks with a passion. Noisy and pointless. Lockdown again won't make much difference to me. Same old, same old.

Re: Octogre. The rain it raineth every day

I blame it on the state of Sociology, and paternalistic politics. Many of these organisations were responsible for protecting their finances, the Board's backs and the children last of all. Their standards of parenting assessment were too prescriptive for happiness. Supervised Access is a wonderful ...
