Re: Well, It's August!
You are really going through it GLO. I sent you an email, which you may be able to retrieve if you reload the email tab. Yahoo sent me a message too, but I reloaded and it went away.

Re: Well, It's August!
You need to look for somewhere to live. You could move if you look for something suitable. Ask the council to help. I'm sure there's somewhere better than you have at the moment where you'd have a bit more help on a day to day basis. I mentioned elsewhere a few web based email providers where you co...

Re: Well, It's August!
GLO, I hope the sleep has made you feel a lot better. Channelling my mum, why feel self conscious? Who'd look at you anyway? Really, at our age, we are almost invisible. Practising with the stick is easiest if you always take it with you. Swing it when you don't need it. Try holding it in either han...

Re: Well, It's August!
Oh dear, Brian. That is worrying. Maybe your blood pressure is a bit low. If it's any comfort, when I fell down the stairs in 1985, I was put to rest on the sofa by DD, but felt thirsty and while I was getting a drink of water, passed out on the kitchen floor. I don't know how long for, but because ...

Re: Well, It's August!
I had to get up early because they were coming to take out my bath and put in a shower. I say 'they' but it was just one. After some hard work, he had to go off to get rid of the detritis of the bathroom and pick up the screen and other bits. I went out to pick up the music for our service on Suday ...

Re: What I'm Currently Listening To
I may have been joking a little over the Sumerian Harps. The fact is that I had a record of South American harps from all over the continent. There were the Paraguayan, made famous by David Attenborough's Zoo Quest programmes, and they did a really brilliant recording of Malaguena that I subsequentl...

Re: Well, It's August!
After the weekend's excitement, it was nice to relax and have a good night's sleep in my own bed. My gardener has shown his face and is very hard working and strong enough to pull out some deep rooted weeds. He looked pleased with the plants I bought, so it will be looking pretty good soon. Just get...

Re: Well, It's August!
I think that's why I didn't call you up Brian. I went to Blackheath yesterday morning to see if the market was up to scratch. Not quite the same, but enough like it to buy a couple of handbags in leather for £7.99 each. Lots of pockets to hide credit cards, handkerchiefs, pens, a tripod for the came...

Re: Well, It's August!
I hope you all have a great time. A good soak and a lot of laughing is a lovely way to spend a summer weekend. I'm off to the Midlands tomorrow to catch up with friends. I have to get the replacement latch fitted to my tailgate so can't leave until that's done. I had my hair cut today and took it fo...

Re: Well, It's August!
Where did you find Abel? Not in the graveyard I hope! Wasn't that where Pip found him?
Brian, you pipped me to the post, but maybe I was writing my opus while you were finishing yours.

Re: It's August now!
Sorry about that. I didn't think there was one when I started this. I didn't expect anything of it, but thought it was worth trying. It turned out that it was. I banked with Lloyds at University and for several years afterwards. I believe that Barclays have set money aside to repay people too, but p...

It's August now!
Hello all After a stroke of luck resulting from letting a company find my PPI misselling plus interest, I am having a proper shower put in to avoid breaking my neck getting in and out of the bath. I have also invested in a viola. Brand new, I've never had a new musical instrument before. My violin w...

Re: It's July!
What about the washing up? I've had my cleaners in this morning so I can relax for a bit. They cleaned my windows on the outside, so now the people opposite can see me. Mostly there's a bit of a hedge, and one lot is away most of the time, but I don't wear much indoors.

Re: What I'm Currently Listening To
I'll concur on "The Armed Man" Brian. Most of my musical taste is a bit more elderly than yours, owing to my advanced age. Mine includes listening to rare instruments like Sumerian Harps, though I'm not entirely sure I enjoy them. Ancient music and world music generally. Often niche stuff ...

Re: It's July!
Hello, it has been raining here also and I was somewhat distrait. My handyman is going to come tomorrow to paint/condition the cladding that was replaced after the insulation was put on. He was due to come this morning but rang last night to delay until tomorrow. Fortunately, I had bought the fence ...

Re: It's July!
I don't think I went to as much trouble as that. Teachers asked would say "Don't teach them anything before they come to school", which I understood meant no reading writing or arithmetic. She was read to, and lots of books were around the house. But she could tie her own shoe laces and th...

Re: It's July!
I still think that my plan to ask friends in the area who were teachers to recommend a school was pretty good. I thought they would be more up to date than an OFSTED report. And I thought I was at least halfway responsible for trying to ensure that any areas of difficulty were ironed out. DD was ter...

Re: It's July!
It would be nice to think that the parents who care enough to choose the 'best' school also cared enough to follow the children through their school careers helping them to understand the inexplicable. I'd like to think I supported my daughter by asking teachers of my acquaintance to recommend the s...

Re: It's July!
Thank you Brian. Quite often Ripper stories just imply that the victims were 'only' prostitutes, which may have been why they were selected in the first place, but your story shows her off as a real person who had a family life and a proper job or two. I don't doubt that all the victims had real liv...

Re: It's July!
Well, I have to have another practice for the music we are playing on Sunday, then go to bed so that I will be up in time for the rehearsal tomorrow. Gardening went well if you don't count the tall pile of cuttings. I have had a set of other cuttings of witty items for the Parish Magazine, one of wh...
