Re: Another Good Morning to All
Oh dear, GLO. Don't you have anyone who can help you with the mortgage discussions, your Social worker for instance? Even your kid sister would probably be better if you can face having her know the information. Or maybe you can write down what you need to say, then correct it on a second run. Tell ...

Re: Another Good Morning to All
I was relieved to hear about the election. I thought it was another ploy to wriggle out of one. There is still a chance that the chicken coup will sense the departure of the gravy train and vote against it. I've been for the monthly book group. A large latte, a pear and almond torte and lots of talk...

Re: Another Good Morning to All
Our local Co-op is apparently open all the year round except on Christmas Day. 7am to 10pm. Bless them!
Enjoy your day.

Re: Happy Easter to All
In the panic to get to church complete with newly laundered gown and sleeves, I went on to Dunster Woods for a walk, then collapsed back in bed for most of the afternoon. So I never got in yesterday, sorry. I have a granary loaf in the oven so when it's done and cooled I can have breakfast. If I had...

Poor GLO. They are really giving you a hard time. Your scattered history of working like a demon for all the Great Names, never fails to impress, and to entertain. I am now hopelessly confused by their pathetic policy. It's an outrage about transferring a floodplain and high crime postcode without s...

Re: Good Morning All
In big cities or conurbations, the burden of administration is so great that it would be better to break it up into parishes and do it all from there. But please don't tell them. They'd just jump at the chance to reorganise. And as any fule no it costs more than it's worth. I don't know GLO if you w...

I'm glad I only asked if I had to produce the voter. Blunders said he didn't feel well enough, and I'd have cast his vote according to his opinions. Not the same as personation I don't think. That involves some attempt at deception. Ever since my father forgot to add me to the household registration...

Re: Good Morning All
I liked Charlie Resnick. Not particularly flawed, but a lone detective with his Jazz records, It's a lonely job with very unsocial hours and it's not that surprising that detectives tend to resist any attempt to get them to work 'according to the book' Senior people with the Home office on their bac...

Re: Good Morning All
It's quite likely that everyone has a personal problem at some stage, and perhaps it depends on how they handle it or how the author handles the problem yet lets the detective get on with their job and solve the crime while not neglecting their aged father, missing teenager, depressed wife/husband e...

Re: Good Morning All
I've heard lots of good things about "Twelfth Night". It must be my favourite Shakespeare play because I've seen more productions of that than any of the others. My favourite Fred Dibnah incident was when he was on Desert Island Discs, and he asked for a Steam Engine. Disabled of course Th...

Re: Good Morning All
Hello Brian Nice to see you. I am very envious of your being able to go for a walk. I start off but it takes about 200 yards before my bad leg can catch up with my good one. Did the Town crier explain why they say Oyez, and what it means? Obviously something LIKE 'listen up you lot', but it would be...

No wonder he got to be President of the US if he campaigned in Benfleet.

Did it cull 80%? Even Peet himself has only been culled 30%. Sorry if that's in bad taste. He hasn't been in evidence, and nobody has reported how he is for several months now. With Rod in hospital waiting patiently for surgery, one would like a general check round of those who have been very ill la...

Re: Miscellany: Week Beginning ... October 10
This is how it's supposed to work. As the Government loses interest in supporting people, the Community which is always there, but often not in the right place at the right time will have to be more organised and show more that they care. By doing things to help when they can.

Re: Miscellany: Week Beginning ... October 10
That is terrible. I saw a group of about 5 people bedding down in the main Taunton car park, but they were on the bottom rung in a sheltered spot, so it wasn't quite as bad. Not good either. Not sure how many because I didn't want to stare too obviously at their 'bedroom'. When the city ground to a ...

Back again. No real excuse except meetings, orchestral practice, seeing the motor caravan and its new owner off the premises, having cleaners round and running out of steam resulting in reading and sleeping. Next door has a wood burner, but I don't know how she lights it. Maybe rubbing said boy scou...

Have you found out where you live yet GLO, now that the Council (spit) has redesignated your mean streets? N0 14 Nelson Mandela? Had lots of fun yesterday with a flat tyre, which in the event wasn't as bad as the overinflated one which was due to have a blowout when I reached a speed above 70mph. Th...

Re: Miscellany: Week Beginning ... October 10
Sorry I went quiet. I got whisked into hospital and opened up. I asked if it could happen again because if so they should fit me with a zip. The surgeon gave a ghastly smile and said he hoped not, but I think he was trying not to laugh in front of his 'team'. Then my sister who's a doctor, kidnapped...
