Re: How About An Any Day Thread

Yes, and it's the week-end! Been a busy week, but my battle with the French keyboard is over: I won .... the machines now acknowledge that the French use a different layout :-) Surprise surprise, another rally week-end for me, but after next week-end I actually get a break. I'm not sure if I'll know...

Re: The "Bowman" Board

Ostriches. And no, that's not intended to be a dis-associated word :-).
Alternatively (or additionally), "Clique" (pronounced "SEA-Leek")?

Re: How About An Any Day Thread

Good morning all from a dull West. Nothing special on today, apart from laying in a fresh supply of cat biscuits (plenty of the moist food, they get both).

Re: How About An Any Day Thread

These days pretty much all of the "consumer" anti-virus offerings seem to be little better than actual viruses - whether freebie or paid. The "Enterprise" versions tend to be rather better, but then enterprises will pay a lot more. However much it pains me to say this, I think th...

Re: Cat Club

I must admit to being very much a "cat" person - and (of course!), cats know this (not that any cat would ever take advantage, perish the thought!). 3Wells is the "dog" person (also a cat person - actually I think what 3Wells really wants is to own a private full-scale zoo!). Our...

The Game Rules Thread

This is a "sticky" thread to assemble "rulebooks" for various games, based on the underlying principle that there aren't really any fixed rules: all game rules emerge through consensus, although many will likely be based at least in part on something from the Home Service ... er,...

Re: Lurking

Maybe we need a separate discussion on game rules, to form some consensus? I'll kick off a "Game Rules" thread and let's see if anyone salutes ...

Re: How About An Any Day Thread

Now, an Any Day Thread sounds good to me! A new one can be started under varying conditions, which can be totally random, possibly based on the phase of the moon :-) I have rallies the next two week-ends,then ... bliss! ... I have a WHOLE week-end off! As for this week, I guess I'd better get back t...

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Hello, I posted in the wrong thread last night. Two of my visitors are now in Kilkee, heading to East Clare tomorrow so I have been looking at pictures and plans for a coast walk with a lot of envy. I hope to get more regular with posting if I ever get sorted. Now I must get shoes on and take the d...

Re: Lurking

I must admit the medical device had escaped me, I was thinking more of old Mr. Flawse in Tom Sharpe's "The Throwback", using calipers to measure the "cephalic index" of potential fathers of his "bastard grandson"! So I guess the panel should award you a bonus point ... ...

Re: The "Bowman" Board

Hello, I felt obliged to register to help you identify mystery visitors. I tend to browse forums at odd hours and I am an erratic poster, mostly on the dog forum in Sue's. I have no idea about the politics of all the mustardland boards as I prefer real life politics. I have visitors this weekend bu...

Re: Lurking

I'm definitely going to have to BUZZZZZZ that one: the thought of a bloke wearing a Caliper (whether a measuring tool or a brake component) in a grotto makes me feel like I've fallen down a rabbit-hole! Now try this for totally dis-associated: tesla (stress NOT capitalised - the SI unit, not the 19t...

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Hopefully a dose of WD40 will do the trick - or a friendly local mechanic, if handyman doesn't. It's a "soft" day here. A good Irish phrase that means the rain is so fine you don't really realise it's raining - until (after about 3 seconds) you are totally soaked through to the bone. And o...

Re: Lurking

It sounds like the rule-book for this game is a little like "The Now Official Rules for Allotment Golf" [reference to Robert Rankin's "Brentford" books, specifically "The Brentford Triangle"].

Enjoy the walk! Something I should do more of, and not just the occasional day I'm in the city.

Happy Friday - the thread title matches the day again :-)

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Hi SD ... with this weather is it not time for you to become a Summer Dragon? However briefly? Warm and overcast here this morning, but not (yet anyway) as hot and muggy as yesterday. And it's almost Friday again! Admin notes: There is an inactive "SummersDragon" user account that has neve...

Re: The "Bowman" Board

In "Proboards" terms, a "Global Moderator" is a moderator on all boards (or categories). It's possible (as Angie has done) to set up moderators only for specific boards.

Re: Lurking

Assuming this is "time-out": my vote is to allow only "words", not "phrases". Not quite sure about hyphenated words, but IMHO hyphenation would be allowed if the word made sense WITHOUT the hyphenation (to take one word from an earlier phrase, say "drag-line" ...
