Re: It's July!

Sorry that I've not been around. Been busy. Yeah I'm retired but, these days I do things that I want to do not, what The Man tells me to do because, he's paying me. I do it because I enjoy. When I cease to enjoy it, I stop.

Re: The "Bowman" Board

I posted in 'The Early Thread' in Peet's a couple of days ago and, was soundly ignored by posters that I had previously regarded as friends. Since my outburst in Bowmanland, I haven't received even an e-mail from one of my 'friends'. No-one has been in touch to ask me to explain why I wrote what I d...

Re: How About An Any Day Thread

Good morning all. Just been listening to the first ever episode of 'The Navy Lark', thanks to a Radio 4 Extra download. Recall the programme as a Sunday lunchtime favourite from the 1960s. Didn't realise that Dennis Price was the original 'Number 1'. Mind you, I suppose that his film career was into...

Re: How About An Any Day Thread

Good morning everyone. Never been to Bognor. Was it King George V who is alleged to have said "B*gg*r Bognor." on his death bed. Don't know if that's an apocryphal story or not. Tend to think that it's one of those urban myths that seem to have developed down the years. Personally, I'm not...

Re: Cat Club

We've had cats ever since we were first married. All have been pedigree all sorts. Always had dogs when I was still living with my parents. In fact, I was told that I learnt to walk on a cocker spaniel called 'Lady'. We've never really craved a dog since we were married. Just think that they tie you...

How About An Any Day Thread

Good morning all. Just thought that it was time for a new thread. Busy week ahead for me. Today, it's the usual Art Group. I shall be trying to complete the blue iris in pastels that I started last week. Tomorrow is my Active Retirement Group. Of course we'll be picking up our granddaughters this af...

Re: The "Bowman" Board

Chara, You are more than welcome here. I began many moons ago, posting on the old BBC boards, transferring to Sue's when the BBC closed their boards down. Like you, I am less concerned about the 'politics', I just find it nice to chat with friends. I grew more and more disenchanted with Sue's over t...

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Good afternoon all.

So sorry to read of LynnieP's dad. It's very sad but, in some ways a blessing. He had dementia and, was fairly recently diagnosed with cancer in his mouth.

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Good morning all. Rather cloudy here this morning. It's also somewhat cooler too but, not unpleasantly so however. It seems to be the right sort of day for a walk with the Action Heart Group. I should say that, as far as I am awareI don't have any form of heart problem. The idea of the walks is prev...

Under the current rules of this game, I would like to claim an allowance as a left-handed Scorpio.

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

It's been raining here. Not your chucking it down or, raining stair-rods, more like a couple of hours of drizzle. Not much for the garden.

Thanks for the concern about the back. I don't 'do' backs as a general rule. The fall did the damage. Even so, I'll live.

Re: The Cricket Thread 2017

I regard five day test matches as the pinnacle of the game. They're like a game of chess with, the swings in fortune going to and fro. I was there at Edgbaston for the famous 2005 test against the Aussies. Epic!

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Good morning all. Rather dull and overcast morning here on the Western Edge of the Black Country. However, it remains warm. Thorms are expected later in the morning. Back still giving me some pain following my fall last week but, it's better than it was. Hoping to go on an Action Heart Walk tomorrow...

Re: Lurking

Could I please raise a query, vis-a-vis the rules. Looking back at GLO's post from Saturday 17th June, this game involves quoting ''a word" and the next poster must come up with an unconnected word. However, there have been a couple of instances since then when phrases seem to have been used. T...

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Some posters will be aware that I sit on Education Admissions Appeals Panel locally, as does my OH. Basically, (I'm not sure of the arrangements in the rest of the UK.) parents in England are able to choose (In theory, anyway.) which primary or secondary school their child goes. In fact, the better ...

Re: Let's start a Friday thread

Rwth, I tend to believe that some drivers follow to close simply to intimidate. That said,I once worked for a Managing Director who drove like a maniac and, can recall many instance when I've been on of his passengers. On one memorable occasion, we had been to a meeting in London. We were late getti...
